How Thunder's AI Matches You

Match Scores

Thunder's AI generates a Match Score for every possible investor/company match in the network. It takes into account many variables to determine which investors are more likely to consider an investment.

Quality Matters

84% of startups have matches on Thunder

74% of startups have more than 5 qualified matches

61% of startups have more than 15 qualified matches

Company Score

Thunder uses a model that generates a bell curve-like distribution for company scores. This represents typical VC investing where only the extreme outliers are the ones that get funded. However, our match scores keep the system honest and open for unlikely matches to level the playing field and create more opportunities for companies to match with investors

Over 2,738 Investors in the Thunder network to be connected with

Company Scores and Match Scores

20% of the variability in match scores is explained by company scores. This is how Thunder democratizes venture capital and exposes investors to net new opportunities that fall outside of their typical network but are aligned with their thesis.

Over 24,847 startups are in the Thunder network

Investor Velocity

The velocity of an investor is the likelihood of them investing in a given period. Most deals get done in Q1 & Q3 of the year, but in 2022 we saw the range of investments narrow with less seasonality. However, in Q3 & Q4 2022, we saw a sharp decline in investor velocity, with later-stage deals taking a big hit given macro market impacts.

Over 3,291,505 unique match scores have been generated between startups and investors
